There is no published total of cryptoasset firms. From 2020 to 2025 the FCA received 386 MLR registration applications and approved 62 13.

What applies in 2026 and 2027

  • The authorisation gateway opened on 30 September 2026 and accepts applications until 28 February 2027 22.
  • The regime comes into force on 25 October 2027 22.
  • MLR registrations do not carry over: there is no automatic conversion 24.
  • PS26/18 perimeter guidance was published on 16 September 2026 23.
